"Use What You Have, Where You Are"
Being an entrepreneur is one of the most rewarding decisions I have ever made. The only
decision that ranks higher is becoming a parent. Creating a business from only an idea
involves focus, determination, and a lot of hard work. You can do it and you can start just where
you are.
1. Your Idea
- Most entrepreneurs start with an idea. What's yours? Why is it important to you and why
is it important to others? Write it down.
2. Your Vision
- You have to have a vision before you start. Your vision is your guide. It is the foundation
of your business. Use your idea to develop your vision.
3. Set Goals
- Once you know your vision, you need to set your goals. What are you expecting from your
business? What do you plan to accomplish in 6 months, 1 year, 3 years, 5 years?
4. Develop a Plan
- What are the steps you will need to take in order to accomplish your goals? Outline each
goal and define 3 or 4 steps that will lead you in fulfilling that goal. Repeat the process
with each goal.
5. Move Forward
- You have your basic plan, now you need to move forward. A complete business plan can
be developed as you go along. Unless you are asking for funding at the outset, you do
not need to complete a business plan before you get started. Continue to gain
knowledge and incorporate the information into your plan.
